This month, we’re thrilled to feature Cantor Forensic Accounting, PLLC, a family law CPA firm in Chandler, Arizona. We spoke with David Cantor about what drives his work and how CPACharge has benefitted his practice.
What led you to focus on family law accounting?
Before starting my career in family law accounting in 1990, I had no idea this area of accounting even existed. I soon discovered it’s a way to use my accounting skills that is interesting as well as challenging. There’s something new to learn with every case and you always have to be on your toes. It’s also an opportunity to constantly be meeting new people and learning new things about the business and financial worlds. I worked in family law accounting in California for over 14 years, and in December 2011 I decided to open my own family law accounting practice in Arizona.
What makes your practice unique?
I believe mine is the only accounting practice in Arizona that specializes in family law accounting. There are other outstanding accountants that do family law work, but it’s not their only area of practice. Because of the nuances of family law accounting, there’s always something new to learn, whether it be case law, new statutes, or how the Courts operate. By focusing only on family law accounting, I feel that I offer a unique skill set to provide the best possible service to my clients.
How would you describe your personal commitment to your clients?
As a boutique firm, I pride myself in offering personalized service to each and every client. They know I’ll be the one preparing the final schedules and reports, attending meetings and, when necessary, testifying in court. While there may be staff working on the case, the ultimate work product comes from me.
What is the collective personality of your business?
Simply put, laid back. The atmosphere of my office is very informal, and when I don’t have meetings I’m usually in shorts. We may look like we’re heading to the beach, but the work gets done in a timely, complete, and professional manner.
Tell us about your experience with CPACharge.
CPACharge has made it very easy and inexpensive to accept payments via credit card. I’m getting paid faster, and by having the payment link on my invoices and website, clients are able to pay their bills with no hassles. There are times, due to the nature of my business, that I need to be paid in a very short period of time. Knowing that I get confirmation of a credit card payment immediately takes away the burden of having to worry about “the check being in the mail……I promise.” Most of my interactions are with attorneys, but when the topic of payment solutions comes up with fellow accountants, I sing the praises of CPACharge.
